The Humanities Research Platform

Academia Sinica Center for Digital Cultures

Digital Humanities Research Platform at Academia Sinica Center for Digital Cultures develops online tools based on each humanities researcher’s needs, which facilitates research workflow with a better quality. Tools such as automatic labeling, text-comparison, word frequency calculations, and visualization developed by the Platform can explore related research issues and perspectives. The thesaurus of Compendium of Materia Medica has been used as a sample text to compare its generic and modified medicine names with other Chinese medical books across different time periods. In preliminary experiments, the Platform has successfully managed to handle large volumes of data as well as identified drug types and popularity at specific periods. The outputs allow researchers to have the whole picture (a bird’s view) of their research data in an efficient manner.
