Database of Han wooden slips collected in the IHP

The digital collection is the Han wooden slips collected in the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica. The majority of the collections (about more than 11,000 pieces) are the "Han Chu-yen Wooden Slips" excavated in the Edsen-gol River, Inner Mongolia and Gansu Province by the Swedish archaeologist Folke Bergman between the years of 1930 to 1931.

Catalogue Database of Qing Palace Memorials and Archives of the Grand Council

National Palace Museum

The National Palace Museum has a collection of over 150 thousand Qing palace memorials and over 190 thousand items in the archives of the Grand Council. The former includes memorials written in the Chinese language, Manchu language, and a combination of both. Archives of the Grand Council are copies, but it does not reduce their value as historic materials because they contain lists, tables and charts from the memorials.

Database of Biographical Packets and Drafts from the Archives of the Ch’ing Historiography Institute

National Palace Museum

This database digitizes all biographies of the Qing Dynasty’s Historiography Institute (1690-1911) and Qing Historiographer’s Office (1914-1928) collected by the National Palace Museum. This batch of biographical data contains over 15,000 important government officials of the Qing Dynasty, including some 3,500 “biographical packets,” some 8,300 “biographical drafts,” and some 1,270 volumes of the “Biographical Materials of Qing Historical Figures.”

Qing Palace Memorials Regarding Taiwan Historical Documents

National Palace Museum

This system selects Qing palace memories and deliberation memorials regarding Taiwan collected in the National Palace Museum. The selection was published in the form of a CD for more convenient access by users. Qing palace memorials refers to the Grand Council’s copies of memorial or records of memorials presented; Deliberation memorials refers to the Grand Council’s records of deliberations at the emperor’s command. Besides copies of memorials, there are also reports, notification, memorandums, lists, and Chinese translations of memorials.

Scripta Sinica

The project for the Scripta Sinica database began in 1984. The first aim of this project was to digitize all documents essential to research in traditional Sinology. Secondly, a full-text database was established for academic research. Until present, Scripta Sinica is the largest Chinese full text database to encompass an enormous breadth of historical materials of this scale. More than 811 titles (new titles)are included in the database.

Taiwan Literature Series were collections of literature related to Taiwan studies, edited and published by the Economic Research Department, Bank of Taiwan from 1957 to 1972. The content can be divided into three categories: first, Taiwan Gazetteer, Taiwan Prefecture Gazetteer, and various county and subprefecture gazetteers, including the revised versions; second, interview booklets of various places and related gazetteers and atlas; third, records and materials complementing the local gazeteers.

Taiwan Diary Database

The database includes full texts of diaries and annotations, totalling about 6.47 million words and nearly 20,000 annotations, and it continues to add diaries from different diarists. The system is built on the Wiki platform, providing timeline browsing and full-text search, and the search results can be further divided according to time, showing different diarists' records of the same day.

Taiwan Ethnography Video and Audio Archive

The material in this website, including videotapes, films, audiotapes, and photographs, was mostly gathered over the past two decades by various research projects implemented by Research Fellow Hu Tai-Li starting in 1984. It is currently the largest collection of ethnographic audio-video in the field of Taiwanese anthropology. National Central Library

The rare books held by the National Central Library total more than 12,000 , covering classical literature, history and philosophy, and nearly half of them were from the Ming dynasty. These first-hand ancient documents and historical materials are conducive to the studies on Chinese ancient society, culture and economy.

National Palace Museum Database of Rare Books

National Palace Museum

Rare books collected by the National Palace Museum include the collection of the Qing Palace, collected books of Guanhaitang purchased by Yang Shou-Ching in Japan during the late Qing Dynasty, rare books of Beiping Library transferred by the Ministry of Education to the National Palace Museum in 1985, and donations from individual collectors and rare books purchased later on. This database contains images and metadata, and has a three level structure with links to image files at the lowest level, allowing users to rapidly access the data they need.

Institute of History and Philology of Academia Sinica has numerous valuable rubbings of Oracle Bone inscriptions. There are approximately 40,000 items, which were obtained by two different sources. Firstly, oracles excavated by archeologists and secondly rubbings collected latter on. The bibliotheca including: "Hsiao-T'un. Volume II, Inscriptions. Part 1, Plates", "Hsiao-T'un. Volume II, Inscriptions. Part 2, Plates", "Hsiao-T'un. Volume II, In-scriptions. Part 2, Supplement", "Hsiao-T'un. Volume II, Inscriptions. Part 3'' and so on.

Database of Bronze Rubbings collected in IHP

Institute of History and Philology of Academica Sinica collect over ten thousand bronze inscriptions. They are including exquisite overall rubbings and a large number of bronze inscriptions, both of which were bought by the former deceased president Fu Ssu-nien from collectors Wu Shi-fen, Liu Ti-zhi, Chen Jie-qi and so on. The bibliotheca comprising: "Rubbings of Bronze Inscriptions Collected by Wu Shi-fen", "The Overall Bronze Rubbing Collections of Shanzhai", "Remains of Rubbings of Bronze Inscriptions of Shanzhai", "Rub-bings of Bronze Inscriptions of Mizhai", and so on.

National Central Library Bronze and Stone Rubbings Database

National Central Library

The National Central Library purchased stone rubbings of Meng Chi-Hsuan from Tianjin when it was first established. The essence of this collection are the nearly 150 stone rubbings with Meng’s inscriptions. Among the library’s collections, the most important are the bronze and stone rubbings rescued from Jiangnan in 1940 and 1941, as well as the bronze ribbings purchased from Shang Cheng-Tso. The library has a total of 6,462 articles and 12,462 bronze and stone rubbings, most of which are inscriptions on the memorial tablet within a tomb (2,820), followed by carved stones (2,826), and bronze rubbings (771).

The source of the materials is the over 1,500 pieces of ink rubbings of stones and scripts of the Han Dynasty collected in Fu Ssu-nien Library, institute of History and philology, Academia Sinica. They include copies from the stones and bricks of Han Dynasty excavated in Shandong, Henan, Sichuan and Jiangsu provinces, which record the relics of graves, coffin, shrines and stone towers built with Han stone bricks.

Database of Buddhist Rubbing from IHP

The Buddhist rubbings collection in Fu Ssu-nien Library is the largest one in Taiwan. A majority of these rubbings are from China, including Henan, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Gansu provinces. These rubbings are dated from the 5th century to the modern time. In addition, several rubbings are from foreign countries, such as the inscriptions of Sakyamuni and Bhaisajyaguru statues in the Golden Hall of Horyu-ji Temple in Japan.

Database of the Liao- Jin -Yuan Rubbings

This database is based on the rubbings of the Liao, Jin and Yuan dynasties (907-1368) in the Fu Ssu-nien Library. Most of the rubbings are made from the inscriptions engraved at different times on tombstones, monuments and pillars. Some are from Buddhist and Taoist statues. Most of the inscriptions are in Chinese. Some are in Mongolian in Uighuric and 'Phags-pa scripts. Some were written in Sanskrit, some in Tibetan, some in Kitan, Tangut and Jurchen languages.

The Department of Painting and Calligraphy in the National Palace Museum collects nearly 40,000 pieces of paintings, calligraphies, rubbings from tablets, and textiles (more than 11,000 sets). The archive includes a lot of calligraphy and paintings by the governors-general of Taiwan, officials, and Japanese celebrities during the Japanese colonial period. These authors all had direct or indirect interaction with Taiwan, so their works can help understand the artistic taste of the ruling class, Japan-Taiwan relationship, and the situation in East Asia at that time.

Shellac Sounds from Taiwan

Li Kuncheng's collection of shellac records are digitized to build a contextual website and database. Focused on the first kind of Taiwan records, the archive includes traditional opera records and a complete collection of rare Hakka music records, as well as the special fifth kind of educational records, totalling up to about 648 records.

GIS of the Distribution of Authors and Works of Tang Shi and Song Ci

The system uses GIS and other information tools to build a distribution and transition map of the authors and works of Tang Shi and Song Ci. The distribution data of works not only correlate closely with the authors, but also include places related to the works, which can serve as a platform for studies on Chinese literature, culture and geographic relation.
